With a whopping 46 teams signed up already, and still around 3 days before the festivities begin, i43 is the largest CoD4 LAN for quite some time.
Boasting a triggered prizepot of up to £9,600 (though at current levels it looks like we will get £3,600) the UK's biggest LAN event looks set to bring us an exciting CoD4 tournament indeed. Couple the number of teams signed up here with news like CoD4's inclusion in EMS Season IX and the success of the Adroits CoD4 Masters event and the outlook seems very promising for the CoD4 scene.
However, while the prizepot is substantial, few of the very top teams have signed up. In fact, only 2 of the top 10 teams are in attendance. This is most likely due to the expensive nature of the LAN, coupled with it's BYOC nature (TUP is available but costs a fair amount extra). The good news is that this throws the playing field wide open to a bunch of teams that wouldn't normally get a look in if the CoD4 elite was out in force.
In this preview I will be looking at some of the teams who are coming into the event with the best chances of placing highly in the final standings. However, as mentioned above the playing field is by no means limited to these few teams, and for all they are talked up by myself and others I would not be surprised if some of them are pushed out the limelight by some upcoming talent.
