Insomnia42: Infused - Interview

After the recent completion of the consolation finals, where we saw YoYoTech face up against top seed Infused and gain a not so surprise victory, I managed to catch the Infused guys to find out where things went wrong...


At the start of the game at least Alpha seemed to be quite a crucial player within the team, with, just five rounds in, having eight kills. You also managed to clutch a round or two, what helped you to do so well in this game? Pure luck? A skill advantage perhaps?

It’s all down to my turret abilities, I have 0 gamesense. I just stand on top of the highest object and ping onto the next target. In all fairness, if we could have played them on strike there would have been more objects to stand on.

You’ve been noted to be quite strong in the past on mp_citystreets, particularly on defense. One example of this was your white wash against Royalty, what the key to your success on this side?

It’s all down to split and pick, it works against some teams but obviously against a mix it was a tad more random. We just have two smg’s on A and B, if it doesn’t work we just change it up.

You managed to get an early round advantage against YoYoTech, but by the end of the second half they caught up, what turned the tide as it were?

They just, erm, dunno, they just want A a lot which made us rotate way to fast. It’s ridiculously hard to re-take once it’s lost, so we tryed to keep hold of it which left B for the taking.

There’s been quite a lot of controversy in the past with one of your founding members Tom “tomzki” ???, having been kicked multiple times in the past for a series of short periods. We saw him playing well in this game, was this is a one off performance or was there something more deep rooted behind these previous actions?

It’s nothing to do with his skill, he’s always been a really sick player. It’s all been down to his attitude (tom nods), raging and whining a lot and a bit of discipline always keeps him in line.?
You saw yourself struggling against mark on multiple occasions, what was it about his play style that seemed so difficult to compete against?

It’s sporadic, he just runs at you, with really good timing that just comes with years of experience...and he cheats. (:D) You sometimes feel intimidated with some of the things that come out of his mouth to be honest.

What was going through you minds when you were 7-11 down on the harder side? Were you panicking? Silently calculating or something completely different?

We, er, we wern’t that far away, we just messed up in the rounds, we just completely messed up.

We’ve seen you having a shaky tournament, struggling against a few teams that really shouldn’t have been an issue for a team of your calibre. What went wrong during this event?

(erm) We’ve only played properly, like working on team work, well, like, at lan. The team a few months ago was based on individual skill, but were slowly working on team unity, so hopefully within a month or two it should balance out for us.
