"You can always find a distraction if you're looking for one."
(C) Tom Kite
It's Jönköping time again, it's that time of the year again, the birds are singing their songs, the sun is out more often than in and except for all those students studying their asses off, it's a happy time for everyone. Especially those who follow Quake Live and have their heart set on a weekend of fun & gore.
For those who have been oblivious about what Quake Live is dealing with right now, it's DreamHack and their Summer edition. The friendly Swedes have gone above and beyond to include the Quake scene again and are hoping to offer up quite the show for all fans out there. Level Up TV have been given a main spot amongst the tournament area and are set & ready to stream every little detail and as many matches as possible.
With the prize purse totalling between €11,000 and €12,000, the players will be hoping to cash in on their hard-earned skills and pick up another or a first Quake Live title. The Duel tournament is expected to be over quicker than expected, as they will only be playing on Saturday from the early morning until sometime in the evening, before moving over to the Team DeathMatch tournament for the rest of the weekend.
TDM Stealing The Limelight
The fact that DreamHack is hosting two tournaments within one weekend again is nothing but good news for the community, as it gives us enough matches and enough stories to focus around. However, the first ever TDM LAN has had an interesting effect on the Duel tournament.
Nobody seems to care. The community is wholeheartedly ignoring the Duel tournament, as if it's some on the side tournament to entertain the masses. Some of the pro players are reported not training as much or not taking the tournament so seriously. Some players even dropped their invitation by the DreamHack organisation to focus entirely on the TDM event.
Some might have forgotten that it's still €5,000 that is up for grabs for the winners and the honour to boot as well. Whether or not the importance of the TDM tournament will greatly impact the Final Standings of the Duel tournament will be curious to behold, as nearly all top Duel players have also gone with a team to represent in the team games and it would be interesting to see if the few that haven't, will profit from the others' perhaps lack in focus and training.
A happy rapha & Cypher at the Ultimate Gaming Championship...

I like how you don't post the one where I beat him 18-4 after I'd gotten a few duels on that map ;P
yea i saw you beat him, he wasn't clearly trying tho, but still wp ! x) ULL NEVER BEAT ME THO!!!! :(
And after he asked if he could add me and that I'm alright when I aint rushing like a madman :D
But I know that it's a one off, and that at a lan or in an official game this wouldn't happen. Though getting that score must mean I'm atleast improving :D
