page 4: eSports

As we are currently looking into the future this is the perfect moment to switch over to the last topic of this interview: All regarding eSports in general. What are your thoughts about 2006 related to eSports? Will this be "The Year of eSports" ? In which part of electronic sports do you expect the most progress?
I think 2006 is going to be bigger then anything we have seen thus far. But I don’t think this will be the year e-sports really breaks out of the shell. I think in 2 or 3 years we will finally see esports to be accepted everywhere and start having shows on TV from LAN events, etc.
Do you think the future is pro-gaming in America, Europe or both?
I think we will see it first in Europe but shortly after that we will see it in America as well.
What role do you subscribe to Fatal1ty for the development of gaming in the United States ?
I think he has played a big part of developing eSports on what it is today. But there are many others to thank as well who have helped progress the sport.
Indeed we could name many other next to Fatal1ty but your personal top 5 ?
Oh gosh. I don’t feel comfortable naming 5 right off the top of my head. But the main one that comes to my mind is Angel Munoz. Without his hard work and dream, I don’t think we would be where we are today with esports.
And of course there is Check Six. What role do you think your organisation will play in all this in the future ?
Well, I can’t say my team itself will play a big role in the process. But we will definitely be in for the ride helping this become what it can be. There are many other teams who before us will make this bigger then what it can be.
As we have TEAM 3D and Complexity mostly being the two biggest gaming organisations in the USA it sometimes looks like Check Six is a little bit into the shadow of those two although Check Six is also a big, successful clan. How do you cope with the underdog position and do you plan to overcome this in the future or just like to stay in that position for quite a while ?
I don’t see us as an underdog. I respect both of those organisations, very much. Craig and Jason are both standout guys and I have a ton of respect for where they are and what they have been through. I think this year we will be able to stand foot to foot with both of those teams on the playing field.
Well, I really hope to see this as well. It's like healthy competition which is always great :)
For sure.
