page 2: Personal

Before we start the usual eSports-related questions, please allow me to dig into your personal life first. Do you still study or are you a hard working guy?
Just before the CPL World Tour I was doing full-time work at an internet cafe in Oxford called “Mices” but as soon as I won Bloodline I left to practise more.
So basically, you are a full-time gamer at the moment. Unfortunately nobody can practise 24/7 so what do you do when you are not gaming? How do your days look like?
Well, when I was living in the city I used to go out to pubs and have a laugh with my friends but now I live in the middle of nowhere with nothing around me for 8 miles. I live in Chippenham together with my mum, (hoping to get a place of my own soon back in Oxford) on a hill in the middle of “god know where” so I’m lucky just to get ADSL up here. All this means that I hardly go out unless to visit events and stuff.
Most people look at gamers as people who throw their life away or who are just nerds. How does your family and friends react on you as a pro-gamer?
My dad was always telling me to get a job when I was younger but when I told him that I won a trip to San Francisco things changed. The same thing happened with my mum but now they are both around to support me and my friends think it is cool that I travel the world playing computer games.
Which event or offer that you got really convinced them of the fact that you are not just a usual gamer who plays just for the fun of it?
When I first started to play, I wanted to be the best and I still do, so I enter loads of competitions everywhere. Counterstrike first but then I realised that I sucked at CS and moved on to UT2003 were I won a local LAN and won 100 quid. From then on I kept playing but after that I took a short break. When I played at i20 beating all the TAG TEAM AMD GAMER members at UT2004 I started to realise that this was the thing I wanted to do.
As a very experienced player this question may fit you perfectly: Can you tell us how you prepare before a big event or an important war even ?
When I prepare myself, I always keep myself calm as much as possible because it is very hard for me to keep calm before games so I try and stay focused on what I need to do and what I need to do to win. After that, …, when the game starts I normally explode. :D
