Well 4K is one of the best clans in the world and they are giving me loads of support like travelling, hardware and besides all that I really like the clan as a whole because of its great players so overall it is just great to play for them again in Q4. I just hope I get good enough for them this year.
Although you are a dueller, a good team around you still remains an important aspect in a well-functioning clan. Can you tell us about your teammates and how do they help you to perform at your best?
When I played Painkiller last year all my teammates didn’t really want to play so it made life difficult. Now with Q4 things changed. I got loads of practise-partners to play against and it helps everyone to improve their skill and just going out having a laugh always helps a lot for the team… and having a good management to look after everyone offcourse.
Can you tell us a bit more about 4Kings management? Who are they and what do they do for you in particular ?
Toby “tobes” Aldridge looks after everything, Philip “Protex” Wride does all the sponsor stuff and Ben “AphexTwin” Woodward looks after the players at events.
This management also got 4kings a brand new website and shuttle as your new sponsor. What are your thoughts about this new website and how does the new partnership with shuttle benefits you ?
The website is loads better now then before and having new shine shuttles to take with us when we travel and when we go bootcamping with is so good. They are very handy really easy to setup.
Last year you achieved some great things in the CPL World Tour. What are your thoughts about this WT and what does it mean to you? What place does it get in your gaming career ?
It’s a shame that it was such a small competition but it was really good. I had so much fun going around the world and playing games. It’s probably the biggest thing in gaming that I have done so far. Hopefully I will be able to do the same this year.
The end of the previous World Tour also indicated the end of Painkiller. What are your final statements about the game and the experience that it brought to you?
When I first played it, I didn’t think it was that bad but after I won bloodline I began to hate it rather quick. I was a bit disappointed that the World Tour wasn’t UT2004 but since I had won 10 trips around the world I decided to keep playing it. :D Although now I’m glad that Painkiller is history.
It may be a bit early to tell but can you compare Painkiller and Quake4 ? (Skill wise, community wise, coverage wise, tournaments, ...)
Q4 is going to be huge. Loads bigger then other games skill wise, communitywide and there should be loads of tournaments throughout the whole year.
The CPL Winter Championships were the first opportunity to compare yourself with the rest of the top Quake players. Although you didn't manage to end up top 16 how do you feel about your performance in Dallas?
Quite well to be honest. This is my first quake game and there are so many players around so top 32 wasn’t a bad start. I started slow on Painkiller aswell so there is always room to improve for this year.
How well do you see yourself performing in 2006 ? What are your goals for this years World Tour ? Ending top5 at the end of the year will be difficult with all those Q3 players coming back to take away the victory although everything is possible… where do you put yourself in the final rankings of 2006 ?
I hope to make top 8 in most tournaments this upcoming year. Hopefully I can do that. All the Q3 pro’s have got a head start but I think a lot of people will catch up.
This weekend VIA ESi LAN took place in with the best players of the UK participating. You ended up third, how do you feel about that ?
To be honest I AM very surprised that I got 3rd after my bootcamp with GaRpY because he beat me on every map. Luckily he lost his aim when we had to play so I was able to play my own game. I’m quite happy on 3rd place :D … next time hopefully 1st :p
You played Deus twice, the other 4K member on the Q4 squad. He beat you twice with 2-0 on the scoreboard. How come, because he is your teammate you can expect that you know each others style so maybe you could anticipate him better then anyone else or is he just the better one of you both?
He outplayed me with aim mostly and once his rail is going their is not a lot I can do but to be honest I rather lose to my teammate then anyone else apart from GaRpY, I don’t mind losing against him either.
You can (at the moment) call yourself number 3 of the UK. How do you think this ranking will evolve throughout the year?
Hopefully it will keep going up for me from one competition to the next like I did in Painkiller so now I just got to practise.
