Roy wears his heart on his sleeve in the interview

What do you think of the cooperation between LowLandLions and Gamevibes to hold the ESWC Belgium? Is this a sign to the community of showing great sportsmanship between the two leading Belgian organizations, where they combine their experience and resources to organize one of the greatest events? I don’t think there is any non-sportsmanship between the organizations themselves; they both want the same thing which is having as much opportunities for their players to perform. The good thing is that we actually have people who can arrange something.
You have to know what you are doing to come up with such amount of money for this expensive event. Come on, The Netherlands doesn’t have an ESWC qualifier like many other countries which does say a lot about the qualities Belgium now has organization-wise. This is something to really be proud of.
"The qualities of Belgium in organizational management is something to be proud of."
In your country, Wsquared Media decided to remove Counter-Strike from its qualifier – as solace, they organized a tournament which gave the winning team a trip to the ESWC Masters. It’s clear that the six (+ coach) expensive flight tickets to ESWC 2008 were too heavy to carry on their shoulders. Isn’t that strange in a land that is seen to have more investors then Belgium? It’s is all about having the right people for the right job. Wsquared Media is a company based on ambitious gamers who have little knowledge of business; they are learning along the way. They are doing great, if you ask me. But… they would do a lot better if they had someone who really knew about how to approach the right people in the right way.
Belgium has the luck to enjoy the wealth of experience Birger (De Geyter) has. The Netherlands doesn’t have that unfortunately. I think if Wsquared will keep on doing what they do, they will get there. It will just take more time, because they lack the experience.
Are there any last words or shout outs you would like to add? Yes, of course. I would like to thank TEK9 for giving me the opportunity to be heard. My respects go out to the people behind the ESWC this year, which made this possible. To the readers who disagree with things I say, try to look at things from my perspective.I try to be as honest as I can with my answers instead of trying to be a role model for everyone to love. Truth brings you more than political correct answers. I hope everybody enjoys reading it and gets to know my side of the story.
Like always a big “thank-you” to all those supporting LowLandLions at any discipline, our sponsors (www.lowlandlions.com) fans and sympathizers. Also a small thank-you to the haters, you make boring moments turn into great fun!

some very strong and interesting points were made by Roy. Can't say I agree with all the statements, but like he said: he was just being honest. Didn't realize that B. De Geyter had such an impact on LLL tough, but the other managers shouldn't be underestimated aswell :-). I have great confidence in Filip's potential for example.
Anyway, nice read! |
