The i33 Contenders: TEK9 kammYz

Hey Jyri, thanks for joining me, could you please introduce your sexy self to our readers?

My name is Jyri Högman, online (and offline) I’m better known as kammYz. I’m a 20 year old gamer who lives in Harjavalta, Finland!


It's nearly time for the i33 event in England, which your team, TEK9 will be attending. How is the team spirit building up to the event?

Well it’s not building that much, our recent problems have made us not able practice a lot. Also Alex recently broke his arm so we will have to play with a merc in the tournament.


The teams merc is TW!ST, better known for his time in teams such as Trademark Gamers. Why did you pick TW!ST as a stand-in and what does he bring for the team?

TW!ST is a nice and very skilled guy. We picked him because our merc had to be from the United Kingdom because TEK9 wasn’t going to pay for the trip. Though picking TW!ST feels better than anyone else I could imagine from the whole of Europe. Hard to say what he’s going to bring for the team, as we haven’t played properly together, but he’s for sure experienced, calm and a skilled player.


Now you are playing with a merc, do you feel your motivation to win has decreased or disappeared? Or do the team still have high expectations to place a high standing at the event?

I don’t think our expectations have lowered; my personal motivation is a bit decreased at the moment. But it’s hardly a fault of TW!ST, there are many reasons for that.


Which teams will you be looking out for the most in matches at i33? Do any of them seem a big threat to TEK9?

With the amount of practicing we've had and playing with a merc makes it possible for any top team to beat us in my opinion, at least if they get lucky. But the same goes the other way around, we have a chance to beat any team there is. I don’t find any of the teams as a "big threat".


Good to hear, now onto some questions about yourself and TEK9. When you joined TEK9, a lot of criticism was aimed at you, making out that you weren't good enough to be in TEK9. Do you feel you have beaten these critics with your on-form performance lately?

I don’t know about that, I've never listened other peoples opinions… at least not too much. Some might think that I’m not good enough for TEK9, and some not… I don’t care…


Well your performance at the CDC4 a couple of weeks ago was immense, how do you personally train yourself coming up to a big event?

I try not to think about it. Before CDC4 I asked my team-mates to leave me out of practice for a few days before the event, and decrease the amount of practicing the same week because I wanted to be motivated. But now I don’t think that’s needed, I’m going to find motivation for a LAN event, whatever the case. Anyways it was only my first LAN so I can’t really say anything about preparing yourself to a big event. =)


How was your experience at CDC4?

Amazing, the LAN was nice. I didn’t care about the delays, I met some cool people and playing was fancy with nice ping, good FPS and a TFT screen!


Were you at all disappointed with the 5/6th standing that TEK9 placed?

Yes, but after few days I came out of it and realised it was pretty good considering the circumstances.


With CDC4 being your first LAN event with TEK9, what did you think of the rest of your team? Is Davy just as sexy in real life as he is in his pictures?

Hahaha, yes I loved all of them (especially ze sexy Davy)! A cool bunch of guys and great players, can’t ask for more.

So, what does the future hold for the TEK9 Call of Duty 4 team and Mr. Högman himself?

Hard to tell, hard to tell =) we’re going to keep on playing of course, and after i33 I’m going to start fixing my anger issues =D. Also practicing without my own gear has become a drag, because I broke my mouse at CDC4. Luckily I found some cool dude who will be bringing one for me to i33! (THANKS MIKE!)
