Could you tell me a bit about the history of your team?

My first team was Combat-Folk, also known as Squad CF. It was the first Russian COD team, founded in the end of 2003. I played in CF for 3 years and  I was captain there (not clanleader). I have played with many different players, many of them joining and leaving like butterflies. I stayed as long as I could, but last year there were lots of negative circumstances, so I decided to leave. It was about 2,5 months ago. At that time CF had won many competitions and was one of the two top teams in Russia. You can see all of the CF awards here:
http://cf-cod.ru/cf/index.php?article=awards&lang=en.

I decided to join our eternal rival, Team Empire :). It wasn't  an easy decision, after playing with those guys for more than 3 years, but most of the players from old line-up were gone. Now CF has a totally different line-up. In Team Empire I found what lacked in CF, friendly relations between team members. We started playing actively and in 2.5 months we won COD2CUP (
http://www.callofduty.se/cod2cup), Moscow LAN (32 teams), took first place in European CB TDM ladder by beating h2k with their mega win-streak :) and we won PROCOD4 2007, an annual and prestige championship in Russia (CF participated too and they placed 3rd). At the moment the Russian community is playing in the Intel Cup championship (ICL) with prizes of  ~1500$.

How competitive is the cod2 community in Russia? Any Online competitions or LANs?

We have the annual championship PROCOD, BeFirst (already 4th edition, it was the first cup with prizes). We have leagues, which last months like Cod Master League and ICL. We have also had 2 LANs in Moscow, last one there were 32 teams present and with prize money ~1200$ (without entrance fee!). I don't know how many small LANs there are in Russia. For example, some guys from Novosibirsk organized their own LAN with 6 teams and that is not only one case :). As last we have Russian ladders and lots of night cups. So, we have really many things to play :).

How big is the cod2 community in Russia? Are there any other clans besides you?

Russian community has about 100 teams, 65 of them are playing in Russian ladders, about 50 are playing in www.callofduty.ru tournaments and about 30 are playing CB (20 of them playing current Open Cup). And this is without counting hibernating clans :). I think that if we managed to gather 32 Russian teams in one place for LAN, it would perfectly describe the size of our community :). Btw, Europe has something to be jealous about.

Do your clubs have these conditions? Picture
1, 2 & 3.

You can see more than 90 computers with constant 250 fps in 1280*1024 resolution, a cyber-arena with 10 plazma panels (1 in front of each player and a huge main display :)). I am already seeing your mouth waters :D

Is it easy for you to get support from Organizations from your country?

It’s really hard. This year we managed to get Intel to sponsor competitions, it was the birth of new line of League championships. We managed to get some publication in our journals and more companies supported our last LAN (it really was a huge achievement.

I don't know why Russian organizations do not want to support CoD2, they are spending more and more on CS & CSS, quake and other games, despite the fact CS is out of date and many players don't like CSS. That’s some kind of dormancy and backwardness in our organizations...

Do you think you have equal chances as countries like the UK, Finland etc.. to practice and become better?

Our Russian Nation team in last season impressed many players from Europe. We managed to get in the playoffs in S&D where we faced team Germany :). In TDM we took 4th place, but surely we could have done better. Russian players have a big disadvantage in connection, because COD is a connection-dependant game. It’s not only the high ping, but also massive packet loss. For example, a Russian player could have 70 ping but he will almost never make a random headshot. He will have a decreased probability to hit the opponent and an abnormal high probability to be hit, especially in head! But we are trying to do our best to balance these disadvantages by some tactics and skill. There is no doubt that Russian teams have huge potential. Just like our brothers who play CS, quake and WC3, we can compete with Europe finest.
