Could you tell me a bit about the history of your team?
We are the Latvian cyber sport team mindGyver, which is now represented only in Call of Duty 2.The team was made in 2006 of November, when we teamed up mindKillaz and MacGyver, both clans were the best in Latvia, but both teams faced with a lack of active players, so MacGyver decided to make the first step and offered to team up. As you can see the offer was not rejected and we do not regret the decision, because was made a "pure Latvian" clan, which has achieved a lot and have proved to Europe that we can play well too. We have played totally of 150. MindGyver took a part in CoD2 S&D OpenCup Fall 2006 in the fourth league, where our team lost in the quarter-final. We have also participated in a lot of night cups, for example, Infused-gaming and dfiance-gaming arranged cups, where we made some nice results. Now we have stabilized our main line-up, changed and improved our style of playing.
How competitive is the cod2 community in Latvia? Any Online competitions or LANs?
We have an online "LVcup" each year, now there’s an LVcup going on in vCoD, and we are participating in it, and we see that we still are the best in vCoD too from Latvia. One year ago we had a CoD2 LAN, where 8 teams were taking part.
How big is the cod2 community in Latvia? Are there any other clans besides you?
Latvia is small country we only have about 10 teams, but only 2 teams manage to participate on some kind of level. Latvia have small community it’s like 300 people, but it’s really friendly and we communicate trough our community site www.cod.ilva.lv. I can mention only clans like unDestroyable, URLAS which had managed achieve some kind of results.
Is it easy for you to get support from Organizations from your country?
At first you need achieve some kind of result and only then you can go and ask support from Organizations, now we are only going to achieve some results to gain some popularity and then we will think about organizations, we don’t need organizations that can support us only with a server, BNC’s or a website, we can buy it by our self.
And answer to main question – do we get support from organizations in our country is NO.
Do you think you have equal chances as countries like the UK, Finland etc.. to practice and become better?
In online matches I think we have some real disadvantage, because of our bad internet connection, ping packet loss and etc. I think some NL players in Latvian server will have better connection than we do :). It’s really hard to play against Dutch or German teams because it’s hard to find an equal server, in our point of view it’s Sweden, but rarely there is team who plays on Swedish servers. But about practice and becoming better we have equal chances, we all have #cod2.wars, and everything else is just training, training and again training :) about internet connection we will see when we will go to some big LAN, it will be Dataparty, wonderbase or The Expirience: that will show if we are a bunch of noobs or we really have bad internet. :D
