Following the recent acquisition of the German Call of Duty 4 team Evergreen by the top German organisation Team Zykon, the German community page dSLASH (www.dslash.de) released an interesting special, featuring into-depth information about the team, the players as well as a interview with the 21 year old German player
David "kalle" Rüger.
Below you can find the english version of the interview with kalle; the complete story (in German) by
Dennis "F3kaLie" Just can be found at the dSLASH website, simply by clicking on the button "Team Zykon ausgequetscht".
Special thanks to dSLASH.de and
Daniel "LyCan" Arnoldy, who was kind enough to translate the article into english!
dSLASH.de: Hi kalle, you were always known as the rowdy of the scene, but lately, the noise you used to produce has decreased. Maybe you could present yourself to the community, for them to have an idea of who you are and what you're doing at the moment.
Well, you've already pronounced my name. I'm 21 years old, i'm from Bremen and do my social-work-studies at Holzminden.
dSLASH.de: First of all, I want to congratulate you to the yesterday's match against Legendary, which could eliminate Speed-Link on their way to the final. What do you think of your win after all the problems with the server?
Thanks alot ! I guess every member of our team is very happy about how the past day has run off. At first, we finally joined Team-ZYKON, and to make it all perfect, we've won the final. Everything was just perfect. Surely, the chaos due to the server crashes and the permanent interrupts were really annoying, but i think that not only Legendary were concerned. However, we want to apologize for the all-time crashing server!
dSLASH.de: As it seems, you've prepared yourself quite well for the new game, affording such an achievement at such an early point of the CoD4 era. How much did you and your team practise?
Yes, we're confronted to that opinion quite often at the moment, but the funny thing is that we were exercising approximately one hour on our server for the half-final and final match, getting agreed on certain things and looking for some block-nades. All in all not that much.
I think it's more probable that our success at the moment is based upon the last weeks of CoD2 and the waiting-time for CoD4. We worked hard on our ingame-communication and teamplay, which is payed off now in such a new and fast game as CoD4 is.
dSLASH.de: As you've already mentioned, your team has left bouncer4you to get some spin with your own label "evergreen", to finally join one of the most well financed clans in Germany, Team-ZYKON.
In fact, our plan was to join them instantly, but due to some delays, this wasn't possible so we wanted to contest again as Evergreen. It already helped us playing the CoDQCup in february and it also helped this time! The contact was established by e-mail. We were looking for a new clan, and ZYKON showed some interests. A few phone calls later, we were in!
dSLASH.de: Till now I've never got an answer to this question, but I'll keep on asking it till I've got one. You could be the
first to do so :) ! What do you get from ZYKON, what kind of support can you expect? May it be possible that you're going to be the first Call of Duty pro-gamers?
Our main goal is to be present on as many LANs possible, and we really hope that our effort will be sufficiant.
dSLASH.de: Apart from your present achievements, what are your plans for the future? What are the potantials of CoD4 in your opinion?
Like I said, our goal is to meet constantly. Till now, the game is really a success. It's absolutely playable on weak pc's, the new scenerio offers a lot of diversion, and after yesterday's match on mp_crossfire, there's nomore need of talking about fast gameplay.
Altogether, this is a worthy successor and maybe my new favourite game.
dSLASH.de: What is for you the perfect team, and how far are you away from being it with ZYKON?
A perfect team for me is a team that comes along together in-game and out-game. It harmonizes in every kind of way and really shows strength in difficult situations. I think we're good to go. With Stephan, Tomas and Maxi, our team was optimized and has a good basis. Being together on summit pushed us even more together, even if we were blamed of obscluding ourselves. I think there's still lots of work in front of us, but we're on the right way, that's for sure!
