I was able to catch up with kAi for a short interview, a former member of the famous Swedish team WHO Crew, the most dominant team in CoD1 for a long time.
Can you introduce yourself to all our readers and tell us something about your gaming-history?
My name is Andreas, most people know me as kAi, the PRU master from WHO! I am 21 years old and i live in sweden/Umeå. I have been gaming since 99, started with Quake,Duke Nuken 3d!, Unreal then i started playing more and more CS.
One of the infamous teams i played with in CS was SHINY, we play some events in Sweden vs teams as EYE and spixel. After some years playing CS i got bored and joined WHOCREW after some talk with the guy with the small snopp: kickR. Think the year was 2004 or something like that, time flies! Then we went to the UK to play an event and to our big suprise the tourument idiots had put us and SUPERMAN in the same group, the top3 teams in EU that time.. GG, but after 3 draws Superman won. Congratz.
But, we got our shit together and we went to italy and we won the biggest COD tournament known to man! After Smauilp in Italy we took it very chill and just played some matches. Then we joined the Eurocup and qualified for the lan finals. Summer came and we didnt play that much, so we went to Amsterdam and had a fucking great time!
Almost 2 years have passed since WHOCrew stopped playing CoD1 (The real COD), what's the difference between then and now?
Well it was two years ago, and my stasch is getting bigger and other stuff to (My arms). I am not playing so much this days, well i am not playing anything really. I study know at the University in Umeå and i work partime at an internet supplier support.
Are you still in contact with your ex-teammates and what are they doing in their lifes?
Yes i talk to some of them when i see them on MSN, we live in different places so its hard to meet them IRL! EXT is doing nothing, just sleeping and doing none in the shower. KickR is working as a fluffer in LA, mzt is studying in Malmö, g4rwin is working somewhere in Stockholm, slize is doing what? vonox ?!? , zem is doing zem, none is using the shower more and more.
Can you describe each of your old teammates in 1 sentence?
kiCkr - The man with the small snopp. ext - Always backstabbing to get frags. g4rwin - If i was a riffle i would like to be g4rwins riffle.mzt - The man with the stasch.none - The man that likes to shower.slize - Bring's a new meaning to whine.vonox - My love.zem - whos zem? i have forgotten him.
What was so special in your team, why you had so many fans all around the world?
We were original and good role models. The most important thing was that we were good together, we could get out and get drunk and have a freaking good time! We all were social (IRL and N-IRL)and I think that was what most people saw in us and they like our style.
Best game.. best moment?
e-star.hardrockers first frag? Well then thing I think about the most when I think back to the old days was the game vs Ocrana in Smauilp on Depot. We had to win the next (dont remember iam probley wrong) 4-5 rounds and I really wanted to win that freaking game so I went and took a postion I usually dont take and 3 rounds in a row I killed like 10 ocrana guys. They were dropping like flies and I made some insane shots that made HeatoN look like a freaking njewbie! Then ofcourse the winning of that tour.
