Heya Michael, it seems this will be your third interview on the TeK-9 website. Are you that popular or.. ?

I'm just fucking popular mate! ;D Nah for real, dont know why u allways pick me, sex?

Well, for the people that did not get the chance to read the previous interview, or haven’t even heard of you, could you tell a few things about yourself and your gaming-history?

Sure, my name is Michael Sowa, better known as Trigger online. Im 19 years old, living in Remagen (Germany) and working in an office at the moment as merchant for office communication. I like to go out, party and meet other people, listening to music, doing sports (hahahaha) and whatever other ppl do in my age. I started playing online for about 5 years with Command and Conquer Renegade. Quickly after that i picked up MoHAA and played it for about 2-3 years. As the game was simple too dead, i decided to play Call of Duty some in an english team called 4seasons. Just 3 month after that i got invited into Team-Germany, had a 1 month trial for Ocrana.ATI and joined them on the 9th March 2005. So im now playing with this team for nearly 2 years and im happy with it, actually CoD2 under Team-Speedlink!

SPEED-LINK have been dominating the scene for quite a number of months, which lead to a victory in the first EuroCup season. Going from a top2 perhaps top1 team, to somewhere within the top5 possibly even top10 over the last few months, do you have any idea when the team began to lose their grip?

We had about 7 month or more being the number1 in CoD2, loosing only 1-2 games and then it started. We lost kAZAAA, which actually broke our neck i would say. Not only as player, just as person he left a big hole in our teamspirit, which we couldnt fill yet. L-KiNG joined us and he's definitely a great player, but he couldn’t get our spirit back up. With the first loss to dignitas on crossfire it all started and till now we couldn’t stop it. U talked the truth: we are only a top5-10 team now, but im sure we will do our best to change this again.

What would you consider to be the main reason for all this? Did some of the other teams became better or was it the team itself losing shape?

Actually it feels like all good players from the top teams reformed to 1 clan, which is hard to beat with tactics and a broken teamspirit. All the teams like x6, dignitas, logitech and tek9 just moved on and did a good job, we stood still and didnt develop as team. This and the point i described on the last question kinda makes it.

Did the departure/removal of spar have anything to do with it, because when with his actual departure the team even stated that him out of the team would only strengthen SL on the long run?

We are still confident that it was the right decision to kick spar at this time. It just didn’t fit anymore with him and we had too much conflicts into our team. For sure he was a really good player, but it all started with kAZAAA, not spaR. Its not only the skill which makes a team, for us its definitely the spirit and the feeling into the team. Without spaR we still had a good time and won it all, after kAZAAA this changed again.

I like I just mentioned the team dominated the top of the Call of Duty 2 scene for quite a while during 2006. How did you feel to be in such great shape, losing hardly any, if any, games for a number of months?

It’s an amazing feeling. I still can remember the first Eurocup Final against TmG, former check6. They played amazing on Toujane and had us down to 8-15 or summit and we still fought it back to a 15-15, lost in the third overtime and then totally dominated dawnville. On LAN it’s even better. U know there are a lot of people behind u or on the spectator room, watching how u play and how u act as human. If u then own it up, its just an amazing feeling and I mostly had  goose pimples and hard nipples :D

And now a totally different subject. SPEED-LINK member kAZAAAa has more or less quietly left the team, most people not knowing where he went. Could you explain why he decided to quit Call of Duty 2?

He always was a good football player and we had a 6 man line-up mostly because of him. He played a lot and trained a lot, but after several months he decided to totally move over to football, as he earned money with it. There was no other way because he just loved football too much to quit for eSports. He is now playing for a team next to Jena and is quite good there as i heard. Even though I would own him in a 1on1 football for sure! ;)

Does the team still have contact with some of the old members of the team, like snartscho, St4rLight, sYs, Messias and kAZAAAa? If so, could you tell us what they are up to these days?

Yes we have. Messias and kAZAAAa are into our private irc chan and we chat with them every now and then. Though they aren’t online that much anymore, its nice to have a talk with them and always funny. Messias totally quit gaming, working and playing football in a funteam as well. St4rLight played a time for aS* after he left us, but as far as I know he quit gaming aswell. As for snartscho and sYs, we don’t have much contact with them anymore, which is kinda sad, but hard to change.

OCRANA teammanager nanDe used to play an active role, even playing some matches when the team needed a stand-in. Is she still a part of the team these days and if so, what kind of role does she play nowadays?

No nanDe and Mina are both out of the gaming. They left our team for about 6 month or even more, but they are still in our hearts and our game-accounts. We had a great time with our organisation girls and they always will be welcome into our team or any event we are going to.

Continuing with the present, whats it like being a part of the SPEED-LINK organisation, in comparison to what you guys were used to over at OCRANA?

Well if Speedlink wouldn’t be a great Company and Team, we wouldn’t be in there for about 1 year now. They helped us a lot and offered everything we could dream off, more then in Ocrana times as well I would say. Still it’s not the same as Ocrana, which was more familiar. But we are happy to have such a company behind us supporting our needs.

More recently you have been present at the Dimension6 LAN with a mixture of Team LanFan. Any particular reason why Team SPEED-LINK themselves did not attend?

We had some guys working on this weekend and as german LANs aren’t as fun as international LANs for us, we decided not to go. As some maybe know, im the “community boy” from our team and I like that kind of stuff, so I decided to be present at this event as well. It was definitely a lot of fun, I had a great time and met a lot of nice people.

Although I don’t know the full story, apparently something happened between you and one of the schildkroten members. Would you be able to explain to us what actually happened and why?

Ah well it’s an old story for me now. But to make it short: We played against Schildkrötencrew, they “cheated” against us on LAN with speccing our monitors (or w/e u wanna call it) and as Plotsch aka erv flamed me personally a lot of times before, him being banned for cheating when he still played for n!, I just couldn’t stop my emotions and chocked and slapped him a bit. I already said sorry for this and I know it isn’t the way to go, slapping/punshing other guys if they do something bad. But it happened and I can’t change it, I don’t like him and he doesn’t like me. That’s it.

Just recently the team officially announced they would be going inactive, with L-King leaving the team. Was the team already planning to go inactive, or is this mainly due to the departure of L-King?

Nah it was because of L-KiNG. We took a break of 2-3 weeks over Christmas till January so everyone could think about our team and the future. We wanted to change it totally after this break, starting over again. But L-KiNG didn’t believe in the team anymore, so he decided to leave us to join tek9. With us being left with only 4 members, we decided to go inactive till we completed our line-up. Inactive in this sense means leaving the EuroCup, the Opencup, the ESL and going into hibernation on the CB ladders, in the meanwhile trying to find players to test. We will be back, better then before, just to kick L-KiNGs ass and to show him he did make a mistake in not believing in us anymore :P <3

What were the main causes for L-King to leave the team? Did he lose fate in an All-German team ?

It was just his feeling into the team. He never was really “in” as kAZAAA. For sure we all liked him and he liked us as well I would guess. But it was hard for him to lose and he didn’t fit with our personalities as well. I guess it was a good decision, which could have been made earlier.

According to the official statement the team will at least be taking a two month break. What do you guys plan on doing in this period of time?

Well it’s not like we say “be back in 2 month”. We are planning to complete our line-up at the end of January again and then we need some time to get the new player into the team, the teamplay and to create new tactics and so on. We will change a lot of stuff and that will take time. I wouldn’t say we are already back in February, but also not we are back in March or April. We will be back whenever we think we are ready for it.

Considering the team basically won it all, what is your main motivation to get back on track and resume your great role in the scene in future?

Hard one. Personally I was about to quit. I know, I said that sometimes already to some people out there, but it’s hard to decide when you finally have to make the decision. As I noticed my team was really up for a new go, starting it all over and coming back even stronger, I agreed with them to try it a last time. If it fails and I feel it isn’t working anymore at all, this will be definitely my last try getting it all up again.

Like you mention in the statement, there will be some changes taking place. Does this mean any of the other members are set to leave the team (or get removed), or is the team just looking to strengthen themselves with 1 or 2 more players?

As it seems right now L-KiNG is the only one leaving us and we will try to replace him. But also other changes will be done in the future. I really can’t say what day, month or year. I just hope/know it will happen and it will motivate us even more to keep on rolling. So stay tuned, we aren’t dead yet! :)

Has the team already selected possible new recruits or even been in contact with them?

We are playing with a lot of guys recently. But also we take our time to make sure we pick the right one. We are active, playing nearly every day with some guys and we already have 2-3 good german players who could be the lucky one at the end.

I suppose we aren’t allowed to know who?

Not really, it isn’t hard to guess or to find out, some know names already. But in the end only Team-Speedlink knows what’s going on, don’t believe whatever others tell you :P

That’s what I expected. Anyways, will we be seeing any of the old members back or does the team plan to bring in some fresh new blood?

We thought about this option as well but as we think its better to have some fresh blood into our team then going back to the roots. I don’t think Messias, kAZAAA, spaR or any of the other oldies will be back in our team soon.

With a two month break, I assume we won’t see you guys at the sghOpen in Demark mid Febuary. What LANs is the team looking to attend, with Playz 2, Crossfire 2, Milk.LAN 2 and the new TeK-9 LAN coming up?

We won’t go for the sghOpen, right. It’s sad to see this event running without us, but it’s just to early. As soon as we got our line-up again, we will go for every LAN possible. Playz 2, Crossfire 2, Milk LAN 2, Tek-9 LAN 2, we will try to attend them all and win them all of course :)

Okay, well thanks a lot for your time. We wish you and Team SPEED-LINK the best of luck, and of course hope to see you guys back at full strength any time soon. Any shout outs or comments you would like to add?

Thanks mate for this interview. Greetings to tek9 :), my team, jessy-nika-moni-aggi-<3, hYp0 who will definitfly comment on this with some more bullshit and everyone out there reading this. Remember, the dogs are sleeping but sleeping with open eyes and we WILL be back! :>
