Hello Trigger, Could you tell us something about yourself and your gaming-history?

Hi there, my name is Michael Sowa, I’m 19 years old and living in Remagen, which is next to Cologne (Germany). Apparently I’m making a vocational education as merchan for office communications and playing in my spare time CoD2 for Team-Speedlink.I’m playing games now for about 4 or 5 years i think, started with Command and Conquer Renegade as my first Onlinegame and switched over to MoHAA a short time later. After i was playing MoHAA kind a huge time, i started playing vCoD from the release on with my MoHAA Squad. But after a short time some of the team decided to join [pG] or to quit vCoD. With this move i started to play MoHAA again after only a month or two with vCoD. A half year later i got asked by Solid if i want to play a pug with them and i was able to kill some people again in vCoD by joining 4s (fourseasons) directly after this pug. It didnt work out as good as i thought and after some time i decided to leave them because i thought a german team would make more sense for me. After playing for teams like helix, dslash and team-germany Messias asked me if i want to play some with the Ocrana guys. Thing was, I know Fuchsstute for about 3 or 4 years now from MoHAA and we never liked us any much, even more he hated me like hell :D. It was hard to convince him of myself and it took about 1 month before i finally heared the words: Ur in if u want. : ) And from this day on im playing together with the Team, from vCoD to CoD2, from Ocrana to Speedlink.

How does something like playing cod2 on a professional level affect your social life, school, work etc ?

Good Questions. I don’t think its possible to talk about “professional gaming” in CoD2 because not a single team earns money from his organisation for playing CoD2. For me its still just a hobby, which I really like and enjoy. For sure its sometimes hard if u prepare for some big matches and u spend like 5 hours in front of a Monitor, making new tactics and playing pcws. But Overall it doesn’t affect my personal life as much as it could I think. I’m working, going out with friends and everything is normal, just that I’m playing a FPS-game in some other spare time ; )

If I was Trigger how would my day look like ?

Haha, I don’t think any of the readers care about this but well, here u go:6 o´clock wake up, 6:45 trying to get my train in time, 7:30/8:00 being on work and waiting till its over, 16:00 getting my train back home, 16:30/17:00 arrived at home, starting the PC, going for a snack, doing whatever is needed at home and checking for training-times of today. Rest of the Day depends on if we got train, the time it starts and how long it goes. Mostly I have to quit around 22:00 because I cant be arsed sleeping on my working-place :P. Interesting eh?

After things didn’t worked out with Ocrana, you and your Teammates went over to Speedlink. How does it feel playing under such Professional Organisation ?

Well Speedlink is for sure a Professional Organisation, but Ocrana was simply the same. We were happy to play for Ocrana and most of the team did it for around 1 or 2 years then, but as Ocrana decided to kick all FPS-Games out we had to find a new home. Speedlink is a really good Team with a big Company behind it and we are happy to play for them and to get the Support we need.

In which does Speedlinks organisation differ from the Ocrana organisation ?

Uhm hard to say, biggest part could be the “one-man-organisation” from SL. Buddy is like the man which is fixing everything for Team-Speedlink. Whatever u like or need, u have to get buddy sorting this out. Ocrana was a bit different there, maybe also a bit better. U always had more guys working together as a Organisation-Team and it simply worked really good. But as nanDe and Mina are our Orga-Girls we don’t have any problems with such things and are able  to concentrate on winning EC`s :P

Recently spaR got removed from the roster after playing such a long time with your team. How does this affect the team?

First of all its sad to lose a member after such a long time. But as he didn’t act anymore with the team, even more against it with flames and so on, it was the best decision for the team to kick him out. He was always a Top Player in vCoD, he wasn’t bad in CoD2 either but I think it wont punish us too much with this decision. Our Teamspirit is perfect again, we will have a new, really good Player soon aswell and it all turns out quiet good for us. Both parts should be happy about how this ends now and we should look forward and make the best out of it.

Tek-9 is hosting a non-BYOC Lan event in Antwerp, Belgium what do you think about it ?

It will be for sure a hell of an event. BYOCs are always nice because u don’t have any package problems and u are able to come by train and so on. Best thing on this LAN will be the competition. With a huge pricemoney I guess a lot of Top Teams will participate in this tournament and it will be like the last netgamez: amazing games, powerplay and a lot of fun. I’m really looking forward to this event and it definitively will be one of the best the CoD Community ever have seen.

Are you gonna participate with Speedlink in this event ?

Nah, I don’t like dfb any much and I cant be arsed seeing him on this event then… just kidding :P For sure we will come as long as nothing big happens just before the LAN. As I said, I’m really looking forward to it :)

You already won quite some LAN’s with your team, how does it feel to be amongst the best ?

LANs are always fun. U meet the guys u spend your spare-time with and also some other really cool guys. It’s a total different feeling if you are playing at home or on a LAN, where like 5-10 guys watching every match you are playing directly behind u. Also its amazing if you are playing a final live in front of some hundred ppls on a stage like at netgamez. And if u win it, its one hell of a feeling. The biggest part why I’m playing e-Sports is because I’m able to travel around the world without spending any money for it. I love to travel and if you are able to combine this with another hobby like playing PC Games its just amazing.

How does a team like yours prepare for a LAN and how for a online-match ?

I cant remember that we prepared for any LAN yet. We just go for it and like on netgamez we just make a pcw on the map which is next directly on the LAN. Online-Matches is totally different. Sometimes we play every day of a week just the map we need for a big match, sometimes we simply aren’t able to train anything. Real-life always is in front of e-Sports and it always happen that not all 5 or 6 player got time at the same times. But we try to train as much as possible if we think we need it.

What kind of prizes did you win on these events ?

In Germany u cant win much with games like CoD2. Mostly we win some Mousepads, some Hardware or other goodies. That’s why I love the International Events. Like the first netgamez I played on as merc for dslash we won 500 € and 5 very nice tower which also costs around 100+ € each. I think as a Team now we won around 4000-5000 €, including price money and hardware goodies. Not much at all if u think how long u have to play for it, but as I said it’s a hobby and if u can get any money out of it, u just can be happy.

Where did you win your first award on LAN ? How did you feel ?

My first award was on a random German LAN with Ocrana I guess. It was a nice feeling, although it wasn’t any big LAN or a good competition. My biggest offline award yet was the 2nd Place at the Eurocup LAN-Finals in CoD1. It was just amazing to play such an event against Top Teams like idle, WHO and PC-Gamers. And it was aswell the biggest price money we won I guess, 2000 $ Cash.

Could you tell us something about your fellow teammates ?

Fuchsstute is the shotgun-owner. Without him we aren’t able to play 100 %, he is our hearth and soul, Ingame as Outside the game our captain and always making fun and pushing us to the victory. If u want to win against us, u just have to break him his hand and we are done :P

Nightwalker is our cool guy. He is always calmed and u will never see him flame or scream about any situation. I think everyone knows about his Sniper-Skills aswell as his amazing MP44 Skills.

KazaaAAAaa is our latest addition so far. He is always try to piss me off with some jingles, which works in 90 %. He’s a funny guy with an amazing Bren and MP skill. Sometimes it seems he need better headphones, but overall a class-player.

Phy1 is the Sniperbitch himself. Never seen a better Sniper as he’s playing sometimes. His playing style is a mix between Heavy-Metal and Quake3 which really costs us nerves sometimes but as long as he is killing with it, we don’t have any problems with that :P

Which team or player have impressed you the most in cod2 and vCod?

I think its qwertY. In vCoD I have to admit: I thought he’s a fucking hacker! He was simple amazing with his rifle and I hated to play against him. After I saw him then on the netgamez in CoD2, I saw a small boy which seemed to be really nice and whos owning in the same way he’s doing it online. For me he’s definitively one of the Best Players in Europe, in vCoD as in CoD2. Ralph, Do u want to marry me? :/

What the best & most exciting match you have played so far in Cod2 ?

The Eurocup Final against TMG. It was a hell of a game on Toujane, being 9-15 behind TMG and reaching the 15-15. I still don’t know how we made this, TMG was totally outplaying us on this map. We couldn’t stand a chance normally and I even missed the matchpoint in the overtime in a 1on1 against qwerty, where I just played total dump and watched out 3 seconds to early :/ But in the end we could manage it on dawnville in big style. It was an amazing game and I really really enjoyed it.

How do you see cod2’s Future ?

U never know what the Future will bring. But I hope CoD2 will stay a long time and as long as I have fun with it, I will play it. Lets hope Activision isn’t fucking around with another CoD game to early, else the community will split again and the game will die.

If you could change something in cod2 to make it better what would it be ?

Hmm I would fix the slide-bugs, the climbing-bug (if ur jumping up near a wall and u start climbing although u don’t even want it, jesus I hate it) and since 1.2 the server-join-function, which takes around 2-3 mins sometimes. Other small things aren’t to mention because I’m happy about how the game is now :)

Whats your personal top3 for Eurocup XIII?

Speedlink, Dignitas and Check6 – 4th faculty, they will make it to the Finals, but well, ya know ;)

Player Questions

Dignitas\Plazma: What do you think about n!faculty?

My Personal Opinion, and it really does have nothing to do with Speedlink: I don’t like this guys in any way and I don’t think they are clean either. Things like Plotsch getting banned in the ESL for using a Wallhack in vCoD and some really dodgey ingame-scenes force me to think like that. Also they don’t have any sportsmanship. If u look at our ESL Final, where we tested 4 servers because mattson had a 90 ping on some, waiting over 30 minutes for them and as fuchs crashed before we wanted to start, they gave us 5 minutes to start else we would have to play without Fuchsstute. And we had to then…. Even as Fuchs was back after the first half of Map1, we weren’t allowed to get him in. During the whole match they flamed us and talked senseless bullshit, which made me really feel sorry for them. Neverless its just a Clan, its Online and whatever they want to do, I don’t give a shit. As long as I will get my revenge for this Match its all fine ;P

X6\\L-King: How is the weather at a roof ?

I really like the A-Roof yep yep :P Allways cold but sunny, u can jump, u can prone, u can eat nades landing directly in ur face. Just perfect :D

WHO`kAi: Do you use your WHO-bag you got from me in your social life?

Im sorry kAi, but not really :/ But I still have it and thanks again for giving me that lovely WHO-Bag. How was the girl in Amsterdam? :P

Tek-9 dfb: Trigger, what is a fat bastard like you doing attending LAN's? You lot are supposed to stay home from such events!

Why ur always that hard with me? U want to see me cry eh? Oh, or maybe u don’t want to cry anymore, because we win against ur team all the time onLAN! :D

Nd`solz: what did the doctor say? Will your eyes burn out ?

Nain, my eye is working better and better. First week I came back from the hospital I couldn’t see shit but had to train for the first Eurocup Match 3 days later lol. But now I even can see a bit again and I think in a week or two im able to see everything fine again, although it wont be as good as before :/

Any shoutouts you would like to share with the world ?
First thanks for this Interview, shoutouts to aisuru, my team, triny, spar, the #gentle girls, #sheska <3, x6 lads, the uk flamers called dignitas :P and of course Tek-9 also to everyone out there I missed and reading this now. cu@ Dreamhack, EC Finals and Tek9 LAN :)
