I have been wanting to experiment with a real interview for some time now for the TeK-9 web site and have pondered through many players for some time. I was approached by Copenhagen eSport for some things and immediatly clicked onto the idea of a whole team interview. I though Copenhagen would be and has been the perfect victims, the multi national team have been around for some time now and have recently under gone some line-up changes adding players such as former Junk52 player id3 and former fukyuu player rivieRa. Together with individual questions for these two players, I have also been able to ask the rest of the team questions including fRiJeC, sticky and flow and get some answers and insight into the team that stand as one of the best Call of Duty 2 line-ups in Europe today.

This interview explores the team from each players view asking various questions about the cups they participate in, their newest and older line-ups and more. So please take your time to read this lengthy interview question by question to get a good view on the team.

Hello guys, first off could you please start off by introducing yourself to the readers and giving a brief insight into your gaming history?

fRiJeC: My name is Kenneth and I'm turning 22 in 1 month. I've played games for more than a decade now and still going strong, mostly within the FPS genre. I currently work, but I'm going to start my education soon. I've played the CoD series all the way from the beginning with a few breaks here and there, but more successful in CoD2 lately. And my career in COD has pretty much included Flow the whole way.

sticky: Hi @ all, my name is Jan Craeynest, also known as StIcKyPee (or something like that). I'm 18 years old and I started pc-gaming about 6 years ago. I played Counter-strike for about 3-4 years (started the day that 1.5 was released), together with my mates. Together with CS, I had a RTCW "career" as well. RTCW was the game where i met the guys of the current Dark Alliance, and together with them, I quit playing RTCW when COD was available in the shops. From that moment until begin August 2006, when flow gave me a chance to join Aeon-eSport, I played for Dark Alliance. And when Aeon joined Copenhagen-eSport, I gladly came along.

flow: My name is Johan Lundberg and live in the beautiful city of Stockholm. I spend my days either with my girlfriend or playing DOTA. Within a few weeks I'll start studying and hopefully make something of myself. My gaming career started way back with some random Q1 public and apart for a few years playing roc/tft. It’s pretty much been FPS all the way.

id3: Holla! My name is Ville and I am 21 years old boy from Finland. My gaming career started from CS beta.1. And I have played almost all FPS game out there like, CS, CSS, q1, q3, SoF2, MoHAA, vCoD, and currently I am playing cod2 in Copenhagen eSports.

rivieRa: Hi. My name is Robin and I am 17 years old.  I've played COD from the very beginning and I really enjoy playing it. I also play wow on realm daggerspine so join me there. ;) (Horde)

What specifications are your PC's that you play Call of Duty 2 on and what game settings do you play with?

fRiJeC: I'm playing on a AMD64 3000+, 2gb memory, GeForce 7900GT and X-fi. It's pretty much standard settings, nothing special. Resolution - 1024x768, sensitivity 2.

sticky: Pentium 4 3,0 GHz CPU, GeForce 7900 GT, 512mb RAM (hmm :x) and creative X-fi xtreme music soundcard. Resolution 1024*768, sensitivity 0.6 I think, not sure but it's low I’m sure :D (still need to upgrade some parts op my pc though)

flow: playing with AMD64 3800+, 1gb memory, Radeon X1300 and X-fi. Due to much graphics card, I’ve got a really low graphic config overall and sensitivity 0.8

id3: My specs are: AMD64 3000+ , 1gb memory, GeForce 7800GT. In game all details high and resolution is 1280x1024.

rivieRa: Intel thing 2.8ghz, GeForce 6800xt ( but my motherboard has AGP 4x in speed, so it doesn’t work that good) and 1024mb RAM, Play at normal low  at textures and 1024*768 in game with 1.78 sensitivity.

You guys being experienced players could get into a big percentage of teams around, why do you guys choose to play with Copenhagen?

fRiJeC: As I said, I've pretty much played with Flow my whole career and there is a good reason for that. We understand each other very well and we both have the same view on how this game should be played and what is required. That alone makes it a whole lot easier to manage our team and solve our problems. Sticky has been with us for quite a while now and I'm really happy about playing with him. We've met at 3 LAN’s so far and it's been a blast every time.

sticky: Actually I'm less experienced than some people think I am. I realized what the game was all about, when I joined Aeon-eSport. Since then, I improved a lot and I enjoy playing with the rest of Copenhagen-eSport. The organisation itself is really nice; I had a lot of fun when we went to Wonderbase, in game and 'out game'. If you ask me to quit, I won't be able to find a reason why. Simple as that.

flow: Well to me it has a lot to do with me and how I think the game should be played. With fRiJeC I found my wing man who shares my exact thoughts and now as well sticky who's been great at adapting and evolving our special style of play. After playing with lots of different teams in both cod2 and vCoD I really feel this is where I belong. Playing with someone for over 2 years like I have with fRiJeC really teaches u a lot about the player and the person, that's something I Don't want to trade for anything. Hopefully the relationship with our newcomers will be just as tight in the future. Of course we have our differences, we're basically like an old married couple I'd say. :P

id3: Well, I’ve been playing in sec's shadow a long time, and I just thought its time show what I really have. And the reason why I joined Copenhagen eSports, I knew flow before from old Supermen times, and I knew he’s funny boy.

rivieRa: Well, it started of that I met flow at max hamburger restaurant by coincidence :D, and we talked some and I got a trial. The team has great team spirit so it makes it really fun to play with them!, this is my first time with any of these players so its fun to know some new lads.

How do you guys think the current Copenhagen has and will perform compared to the older line-ups including players such as NiDLER and qwertYYY?

fRiJeC: Well I think we're taking it a step further in the right direction, making our team more streamlined and specialized in every players task. Everyone knows what everyone else is doing and what to expect of them. As of now we're nr1 in our Eurocup group and we've been doing alright on LAN, so I hope these new changes will give us the last kick to perform how we want to. It's only a matter of time, shgOpen is just around the corner and we got some time to practice for it.

sticky: At the moment we're performing better than I expected with 2 new players. Currently we're first in our EC group (with still 2 matches to play) and the team play is starting to work out very good as well. Each player has his advantages which are being used to the max. The first offline event that's coming up is shgOpen and that's still a month away from today. And of course we want to perform as good as possible.

flow: Well our first lineup had great potential but sadly we didn’t really fit together as a team. As for other lineup changes our performance at Wonderbase clearly shows we made a miscalculation but seeing how we are currently playing and the spirit we have this is pretty much the most perfectly balanced lineup we've ever had in Copenhagen/Aeon.

id3: I can't say much about the old lineup, since I haven’t seen them in action much. But I think we can do better than the old lineup, because we got SO good team spirit in the team at the moment, and that make us as good as we are at the moment. For now, we are doing fine, and for up coming events i think we will do fine, since we got pretty much time to prepare them.

rivieRa: I think this team could go far. We have proven that in the latest EC matches without to much practice, so if we practice more it will be a blast ^^.

The team is doing well so far in this seasons ClanBase EuroCup with 3 straight wins, what are your views on the EuroCup this season so far?

fRiJeC: If you look at our results its been very good, we've focused hard on getting the tactics perfect and making new impressing ones. But if you look at the Eurocup itself, there is a few problems with the scheduling, due the new scheduling system, inactive supervisors and tight schedule.

sticky: The trainings we did on each map paid off. That's what the results show at least. The schedule is pretty annoying for me though, because I've got exams during January (the Belgian excuse ;p). But that doesn't hold us back by qualifying for the playoffs. We just need to win one more of the 2 upcoming games to proceed. I hope that, in the playoffs, we can make a top 5 spot.

flow: Good overall tourney. Great way to get the tactics working perfectly with hard training on one map a week. The cup itself doesn’t really feel like a eurocup should feel seeing how theirs no LAN finals and the schedules pretty hectic, however the top of the pops are still competing in it and hopefully we can continue our winning streak for a proper final standing.

id3: Well, I came in last minute to the team, and we had like 2 days to prepare to the first EC match but that went pretty well. But in general, I think we are doing good job!

rivieRa: It has been some server problems with flow pinging 100 on almost every server, then later the Polish FF forfeited because they could play on the server that was set up, but It's been great otherwise.

Comparing Copenhagen from your former teams, what are the biggest differences? Do you get along better than you have with any other team in the past?

fRiJeC: I don’t think we're that different from any other team in my opinion, but we have a great mix of different skills.

sticky: The difference in team play is huge. The main concern in Dark Alliance was to play and to have some tactics. In Copenhagen, team play is priority 1. Although I have to speak English now, it doesn’t bother me at all.

flow: I'd like to think we are more disciplined then other teams. We have 5 different play styles that works perfectly together with everyone knowing exactly what’s asked of them. Our lineup is a bit too young to properly grade yet but one thing we have that I doubt other teams are even close to having is our amazing team spirit, something we will hopefully keep even during bad times.

id3: The team spirit, THE TEAM SPRIT. I’ve played in MANY teams before but in this team it’s just amazing. I can’t even explain it. :)

rivieRa: Well this is my first time in Copenhagen so I don’t have much to say, but It works good.

Being a very mixed team of nationalities, how do you find the team play and communication within the squad?

fRiJeC: For me it has never been a problem, I've been playing with foreigner for more than 4 years now.

sticky: As said before, Copenhagen is kind of my first foreigner team. But everybody in the team has a good English vocabulary, so no problem for us ;)

flow: Well I played in English speaking teams a lot more then in clans speaking Swedish so I think I would have a harder time communicating in Swedish. Only thing that’s a bit gay is to make 5 guys from different countries to have decent to the same server. :P

id3: Of course it would be easier to communicate in your mother language, but it’s not that big of a problem to talk in English.

rivieRa: It's no problem for me, although i sometimes scream at Swedish by mistake. Been playing with foreigner for almost whole my career.

What would you like to achieve as a team in the future of Call of Duty 2?

fRiJeC: Hopefully get some decent LAN achievements this upcoming spring and maybe qualify for next EC LAN.

sticky: My main achievements would be scoring good at offline and online events. Mostly offline though. But sometimes, online can be cool as well.

flow: Win win win win. This should be goal of every team that puts this much effort and time on any game. Result wise I'd say we want to place good in every upcoming event and hopefully have a great time reaching that.

id3: I got really good feeling about this team, and I hope (and know) we get good LAN results, and let’s hope WSVG pick cod2 one of their games in 2007.

rivieRa: First objective is to make it through the EC group, then to make a good performance at shgOpen.

Are there any areas of the squad that you feel need patching up and working on to achieve what you want?

fRiJeC: Practice, practice, practice. It's all we have to do, we've kind of hit a hard period with sticky’s exams and flow got a new job.

sticky: We still need to practice some maps more, because at the moment our trainings don't proceed as usual. That's mainly because I got exams the upcoming month. For the rest: training, practice team play & tactics and working hard to achieve the things we want. A team can't be perfect, but it can be nearly perfect. And that's what we want to be.

flow: Well all we got to do is practice. practice means perfection and although none of us are perfect hopefully Our TEAM can at least get close to that.

id3: Well, just the practice like fRiJeC said.

rivieRa: It's been kind of low in practice at the moment. So all we need is to practice and get the teamwork going.

Now for some questions for the newest additions to the team, id3 and riviera!

How are you both enjoying your time in Copenhagen so far?

id3: So far it’s been GREAT. I really enjoy the team spirit what is in the team.

rivieRa: It's a blast!. We are a great bunch of guys just having fun.

How did you get into Copenhagen? Were you approached by the team and asked to join or did you approach them?

id3: Well, I knew flow from the Supermen times (start of CoD2) and he asked me to play with them couple of matches, and it felt like THIS is my team, so it wasn’t that hard decision.

rivieRa: I met flow in real life and we talked some, then i contacted him on IRC and asked for a trial.

What were your initial reactions when you were told that you were in the team officially?

id3: Of course I was happy, because this is what I’ve been looking for a long time. So it felt really good :)

rivieRa: I was happy of course and a relief that I actually manage to get a spot.

Team shoutouts: Copenhagen team and organisation, aikmore, sponsors, supporters, mint, zEm, sacrim, crow, davy, plaekki, moMa, womz, Ghostgirl, cash, raz, seifer, sloom,  lew,  brahms, vanz, sharpie, woobai (x20), ecu, all the guys who passed the Aeon & Cph offline floor, maxxur, jul, xerno, nidler,  mts *v* (flower 4 you), sec, knaller, the fans and anyone else forgotten in the list!
