In the last months, TEK9 Networks found itself riding on a very bumpy road. After a successful period – winter 2007 to spring 2008 – the Belgian formation went off-road after the departure of Dimitri van Peer (sFx), who decided to hang up his mouse. At that date, the first season of the EPS Benelux was still busy and they were forced to fill the empty gap he left. Luckily, when van Peer made clear that he would quit active gaming for a while, the bloke stated that he was willing to play the remaining matches of the EPS, until TEK9 found a stand-in. The ‘magnificent’ four started their expedition to find a suitable replacement; a long and hard journey from one liana to an other one.
In / Out
Riccardo Natalizio (hutCh) was the first player that appeared on stage. Natalizio, known for his gaming period in wise was seen as a good addition by the team, skill- and fun wise. Only the community had doubts; especially about the level of communication when the four Flemish players had to play with the Walloon.
The story with Natalizio didn’t last long, as he only got the chance to play one official match before he got benched by his team mates. We don’t know if the zero to sixteen score was the reason for his departure but surely some problems arose in that match. To avoid the disgrace, the team decided to attract a former herotiC-player, Gerold van Tieghem (wakka). Tieghem is a known person for the team; he played alongside his current team mates in the cebrenis/oun-period. The reason why he left the formation in that period remains unclear, but now he’s back because the team feels that he’s the most lucrative player to boost their level maximally before ESWC Belgium starts.
Catching up on their backlog
The troublesome months for the TEK9-players caused a downswing with the exam-period and the search for a last fit and motivated player. Two bootcamps and online practice are surely necessary to make up leeway but if this will be enough remains a brain teaser for anyone; even for themselves.
