Fragbite - Inside out

page 6: The Future

As you probably know already, Fragbite is a site based in the Swedish language, making it not so easy for non Scandinavian people to follow the sites content, however, sometimes they do translate interviews and articles to English making it more interesting for a larger audience. Let’s see what plans they have and if we might see a full English site in a couple of years, shall we?

Fragbite has existed for more than 5 years now, where do you see Fragbite in 5 more years if the community grows as it’s been doing so far?
Samot:
With Fragbite I hope we can hit some mainstream advertisers. We also need to work on some internal things to minimize the amount of work that needs to be done :) On the more fun side of things, we’d love to develop our content and on-site-coverage. We’d also like to evolve our community functions and work more towards satisfying needs that may be border-line gaming. Can’t really be that specific at this time, you’ll just have to wait and see!

Are there any plans on converting to English content so you can maybe get a wider audience?
Samot:
We would ultimately like to do that, but at the moment we’re kind of struggling to find enough time just for developing the Swedish site into what we want it to be, so we’re not really planning any big international launch right now.

Right now your mostly doing Counter-Strike content, are there any plans on entering another gaming scene as you already are on most of the events out there, maybe it wouldn’t be that big of an adjustment?
Samot:
We feel that for an expansion like that to work, there has to be an interest with someone in the crew to head up that project. We have no one in the crew with the interest (and time) to take on such a project at this time. You never know what the future holds though :)

Is there any chance we might see a monthly magazine covering gaming news in a couple of years or is the thought of that scaring you?
Samot:
I would be very impressed if anyone were able to pull off a monthly gaming magazine. The print magazine business as a whole is struggling, and I don’t see it being any easier for a magazine within esports where the target audience always is just one click away from the competing websites. Other than the physical paper I can’t see any value that a magazine would add.

I know you don’t like to talk about this one but as we are almost at the end I must pain you through it once more, there has been some mentioning about Fragbite v.3 on the forums and in a news item if I remember it right and even back when I was a cup admin over there. But it has always been in the blue sky so instead of asking you when.. I´ll be nice and ask..
What features can we expect from v3? Or am I reaching the classifieds here :D
Samot:
Version 3 is mostly a rewrite and restructuring of the code. It’s meant to be a refreshing start, but we won’t see any of those really innovative functions in version 3. I think version 3 will have some new things that will please everyone, and of course a fresh new design. We will for example have some new stuff when it comes to the moderation of the forums.

A fantastic piece of e-sport journalism, refreshing to see you ask some questions that alot of people wouldnt normally ask. The ones that interested me where the ones to do with the site setup and about the crew of the site and how they manage their time.
I hope to see fragbite at some point covered in english. Although some of the translations of interviews they've done in the past have been enjoyable long may this continue!

good job.
